Haikus
I was commissioned by the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics to illustrate a small book of haikus as a gift to a their donor Dr. Noboru Maruyama who wrote the poems. I’ve included some of the poems here roughly translated from Japanese.
My second grandchild's / First Hina Festival. I / Must buy Kyoto sweets / Extravagant tokens of / a grandfather's affection.
A comfortable sweat / As I enjoy hill cycling / Deep into Autumn
I waited for the departure / From the hotel to the airport / I happened to look at the city of Paris from the window of the room.
